the spy & the hitman both think they’re in a fake marriage w/ a normal person for their own cover.

cue shenanigans.

(i am at that point in my life where everything I consume turns into sheith. it be like that sometimes.)

anyway, cross-posting my AU ramblings under the cut!

• Shiro is a spy & his mission is to get close to reknown politician Zarkon & his way in is the school where lil Lotor attends. for this, he needs a family & that’s how he finds lil Allura in the orphanage! child – check!
• to maintain an image of a perfect & normal family for the school, he needs a partner! WHO COULD IT BE? enter Keith, office worker by day, hitman by night – his singleness is drawing suspicions & worries from his family tho so he might’ve accidentally told them all he has a bf…
• they meet one day in a tailor’s shop and lil Allura catches wind of their worries. Pa needs a partner for his mission & to get her into school! > spy! cool! > the nice handsome man needs a boyfriend for his cover with friends & family! > hitman! cool! > “PA I WANT ANOTHER DADDY”
• somehow they come to an agreement – shiro will go as keith’s BF on his coworker’s party so he can tell everyone he is dating someone & keith will go as shiro’s husband to the school’s admission interview. lil Allura has gained the perfect parents! SHE WILL NOT LET THEM GO NOW.
• somewhere along the way they agree that moving in together & getting married for realsies will benefit them both so they just… moved in together & got married.
• sometimes keith will catch his husband mid-mission in a chase with criminals & shiro is just like “haha uhhhh this is a new form of therapy! for my uhhh more violent patients! no big! just doing my job!” (shiro’s job, as allura calls it, is a “special mind doctor”.)
• bc allura got admitted to a v prestigious school, it’s assumed that her family is rich. she almost got kidnapped once & keith tracked those assholes & ripped them a new one for touching his daughter. then allura asks keith to train her to be a badass.
• (she uses this training first day of school, when she sees lil lotor picking on poor lil romelle. she just. punches him in the face.)
• shiro, crying internally: there goes my mission plan of having my child be lotor’s best friend so i can meet zarkon…
  allura, after reading his mind: AHFLAHAKLFHAF I’M SO SORRY PAshiro: HOW ARE YOU DOING THAT
  keith: NO BABY YOU HAVE NOTHING TO BE SORRY FOR
• anyways, shiro is deeply committed to the mission, and a crucial part of the mission is to have allura succeed in school. this means keeping her happy so she is motivated. this means pampering her & praising her & giving her a complete & happy family – the 2 of them plus keith.
• keith is actually great at the parenting thing. he’s good at reading allura. he’s been an orphan like her, passed around different homes. at first shiro thought keith is just someone he’ll keep around for appearances but he finds himself turning to keith more often for insight.
• they become a team. he tries his best to take allura to fun new places on weekends. he gets lil tokens of appreciation for keith. he wants it to work, he wants to keep them happy & satisfied.
• and when his colleagues from the spy organization tell shiro that he’s kinda spending too much time, getting carried away with this cover family, he insists that it’s just a job. it’s part of a high priority mission.
• it’s just a job. lifting allura up in the air and telling her she did a great job when she showed him her latest test scores. getting keith flowers for valentines. bristling when he heard neighbors gossip whether or not keith is a good “step-dad” for allura.
• it’s part of the mission, shiro tells himself. it’ll end one day, and he’ll find allura a new, proper family, maybe. she deserves that much. he’ll part ways with keith – smart, wonderful, mysterious keith. that’s what will happen, when he finishes the mission.
• that’s the plan, he tells himself. no, of course there are no filled-out official adoption papers in his personal files. no, of course there is no ring in keith’s size, in a little box in his desk drawer. nope. none of those, no. definitely none.
