(based on this post from a few months ago about the Minimoffs in an AU inspired by the Old Kingdom Series. i’d write it if i had enough time but alas i’ll resort to art. also click it, it’s transparent.)

In this AU – Children of Abhorsen Princess Wanda are on a quest to save their mom from the big bad. Tommy is the crown prince and has mad leadership and fighting skills (trained by none other than Grampneto; and he claims he can take anyone down faster than his King Uncle Pietro). Billy is assumed to be the heir to the Wallmakers (he’s easily the most creative and inquisitive charter mage the kingdom has seen for centuries); TJ is Wanda’s Abhorsen-in-Waiting and a Remembrancer (she hasn’t gotten her bells yet but she has the pipes); Luna is King Pietro’s daughter to one of the Clayr, and an ace paperwing pilot (she was just supposed to drop TJ off but she decided she’s not going to let her cousins have all the fun so she tagged along).

Bonus if The Dog is Lockjaw.

Then I added Lady Kate, just your regular archer (spoiler: she’s actually the best in the land) who saved their asses one time on their trip. Tommy basically decided to keep her as their guide because “look guys, she actually knows her way around this Charter-forsaken forest – I don’t care if we have a map Teddy – she’s awesome, I am your future king, don’t argue with me.” (cue Billy’s “we promised not to use the ‘future king’ card, Thomas! TJ, tell him!”) Kate goes under the condition that they’re not ‘keeping’ her, they’re ‘hiring’ her.

And Teddy, Billy’s boyfriend from school who has had a very normal life until now and just got caught up in all this mess a la “Billy? I came all the way from across the wall because you want to introduce me to your family what do you mean your mom has been captured by an ancient force of death and darkness??? Is this a thing that actually happens around here?? Tommy always brags about you being princes, I never really took that seriously??? Wait I’m going with you- what do you mean you’re going to Death??? Does that mean I can’t come along???” He’s constantly torn between “wow my boyfriend is actual magic” and “we just got attacked by dead monsters THAT IS NORMAL FOR YOU GUYS?” (”you’re literally with a family of necromancers, tee.”) But he’s Teddy, he’s a trooper, so he pretty much goes along with all of it. He figured if he wants to marry Billy someday, he should get used to evil stuff coming over and picking a fight with the family.
