messin’ around with the pen tool and came up with a super cute shai, and then i had to draw the rest of the gang. i always wanted to draw TRH in this style!
from left to right:
helen – best girl, book blogger, aspiring writer and the sensible friend,
aiden – literally raised in a barn, giant teddy bear and the middle of the jock-nerd spectrum,
page – friendly neighborhood overachiever making his two moms proud, and-
shai – the art kid hanging out in the library because it’s quiet and also they like watching their boyfriend at work.
O M G thank you so much, I’m glad you like my OCs! I try hard to have all sorts of representation in my characters and it’s really nice when it’s appreciated like this!
All three are part of my Volunteers series. Dove is a big sister to basically everyone on the team, but most specially for Garnet and Eli, who were both still in the closet before they joined.
Eli had doubts about people not taking him seriously because they might think he’s still too young to be sure on what gender he identifies as. Garnet also felt uncertain because even though she identifies as female, she’s not exactly ‘girly’. Dove has been there, and she helped them both gain more confidence in themselves.
I don’t have much content for them, but if you’re interested, Dove and Eli have a really sweet moment in my ‘Valentines Day’ short story.
Oh, and idk if you know about them, but I thought a post for my trans OCs isn’t complete if these two aren’t in them:
Helen is actually my latest OC who happens to be trans. She’s from my series The Road Home, which I’ll be sharing with y’all soon, so you’ll get to meet her and her friends! She’s a childhood friend of my main character Page and like him, she’s also an apprentice librarian.
Meanwhile, I don’t draw her often, but Kairi was my first ever trans OC, way back from a shoujo manga-esque series I used to write about back in, like, 2010. She’s a band vocalist and keyboardist. She’s got constellations on her arm. She has a super talented lead guitarist best friend and a beautiful culinary-student-slash-violinist girlfriend. I’ve forgotten most other details of that story but Kairi remains very very close to my heart. ^_^
I hope I didn’t overshare. *-*) Again! Thanks sooooo much for asking! I LOVE THESE KIDS A WHOLE LOT.
Characters from my original novel. I’ve always wanted to make art for them in this style and I finally finished it! Wee!
I don’t know what got into me, I suddenly had an urge to draw these children. It took longer than I expected. “The Road Home” is the working title for my ongoing original novel. It’s currently just at 60% when I decided to write and finish Sparks first. These kids are my fave side-characters.
Left to right: Aiden, Helen, Page and Lian. These four are all apprentice librarians (in the novel, librarians do more than sort books and help people in the library, they also do magic stuff).

characters from my current novel. drew this a few months back, thought it’d be good to have some non-fanart work in this blog for once.
