Unnamed OC’s.

A pair of little 15-minute speedpaintings while on a break at work.

OC-tober 2016

I’m gonna write a pretty female-centric novel for this year’s NaNoWriMo. So for this OC-tober, I decided to choose my favorite female OCs from everything I’ve written. Everything. From way back in ye olde days. Even the embarrassing ones. I thought it would be good to have a look back to see how much I’ve changed when writing/designing female characters through the years. So!

An and Kei

I was writing a oneshot and I got stuck so decided to doodle my favorite scene.

Commission for @nerdykdragon

Commission for @nerdykdragon of her OC, Athens!

Moonlight

Quick painting thing to test out a new brush. I loved it!

The Road Home: The Characters

Characters from my original novel. I’ve always wanted to make art for them in this style and I finally finished it! Wee!

Late Luck: Happy Valentines Day!

Dunstan is kinda traditional, so of course Yuki gets the classic flowers and chocolates treatment.

Meanwhile, Bren gave Ezra a cute pink teddy while E gave him a handmade Poe-inspired jacket because Bren is a dork who ships Stormpilot.

And of course, there’s Dav:

He took advantage of the chocolate sales and discounts.

Late Luck: New Years Resolutions

Dunstan and Yuki go out for a fly on New Year’s Eve.

First update of 2016!
Also a random shout-out to my bud @ftleo- here’s more comics~ Wee~

CHARACTER DRAWCEMBER (Week 3)

Prompt: A big group shot of your characters.

Late uploading and finishing some stuff. Better than never, right?

Anyways. When I saw the prompt “group shot” I automatically equated it to “family picture”. So here’s the Project DIY family. On a pile of some sorts.

CHARACTER DRAWCEMBER (Week 4)

Prompt: Three different outfits for your character
(+ your character as a child, adult, and senior from Week 2)

Last challenge! I realized I wanted to do the child/adult/senior prompt from Week 2 as well so I fused these into one. Although it’s more like child/teen/adult for story reasons (because this story of mine jumps back and forth from these four as teens and then as 30-something adults).

Anyways, these are the main characters of my original novel The Road Home, which is currently a work-in-progress (but there’s an excerpt at Inkitt if you’re curious). Notes under the cut.

Xander is the youngest of this bunch. He was a tiny kid (look at that lil bae). He came from a tribe in the mountains so his clothing was pretty simple. As a kid, he covered the scars he sustained from the attacks on his tribe.

By the time he was thirteen, he was traveling alone, trying to learn how to be a healer. His traveling attire usually had a hooded cape, to cover his unique hair and eyes. His trip was supposed to be a peaceful and educational one until he Kassia, Aoife and Enda, and his role became primarily shouting at the girls to “please stop trying to get killed” and then healing them after. He has an innate ability to harness energy from nature, and he uses this mostly for healing. However, after facing dangerous stuff, he decided to learn how to use it to defend himself as well. Just to give the girls some backup, on the rare times they need it.

Years later, after they went separate ways, he still travels from town to town, but now as an experienced healer and researcher. A pretty badass-looking healer. But an actual softie. He’s a lot more laid-back, and comfortable with his scars. He doesn’t have a permanent residence, but he knows he has a family and they’ll welcome him anytime.

Aoife and Enda both came from the town of Falconport, a town of weaponsmiths.

Aoife as a kid was often called ‘princess’ and considered the ‘darling of the town’ because she was a very beautiful and graceful girl.

By the time she turned fourteen, she studied ink magic, which allowed someone to summon an object (in her case, weapons) from tattoos on her skin. She studied it primarily for the art side. When they started traveling at sixteen, she also started training herself (usually as Kassia’s sparring partner) to use the weapons to fight as well. She was a fast learner and quickly became a good fighter.

As an adult and after settling down, she quickly became known as the best ink artist in their town, and occasionally still went on hunting trips to keep herself in fighting shape. She no longer keeps her tattoos covered. And she never forgets to keep in touch with…

Enda. She is Aoife’s childhood friend, and she worked with her mother in a weapons forge, so as a child she rarely spent time outside her working clothes.

Even though her work was making weapons, she was studying to be a Spellhall librarian like her father. With Aoife’s encouragement, they set off for Spellhall, so Enda can become an accredited librarian. She changed into more comfortable traveling clothes, and always carried a special protective dagger by her waist.

As an adult, Enda settled down in a small peaceful town a little ways off Spellhall. She is still a librarian, this time doing her work, which were primarily studies and research, at home. She also teaches a subject in the town’s school, and has a couple of apprentices under her wing.

Kassia came from a mountain province, and was a pretty active kid, always running around town doing errands, and joining their local pastime of climbing trees.

She set off on a trip to go see the world when she was seventeen. She has a list of places to see, all taken from stories of her parents who were adventurous hunters. She trained in fighting while on this trip, and found her footing as a huntress.

As an adult, she still travels, still going from place to place and taking various jobs (hunting, guarding, please get that wild rampaging troll out of our carriage’s way, etc.). Her years of experience show in her various scars and stronger build. She still has a list of places to see, but the last destination is always ‘home’. On a little house on a hill, and Enda’s smiling face happy to see her again.

.

Whew, that was long. Anyways, the novel really is how these four met and traveled together, became this little family, and what happened after they went separate ways.

Ali’s Closet vs. 2015

I don’t have a special 2015 recap or anything, but maybe drawing my favorite get-ups this year will do. If I was in an anime, this would be my character sheet because yes these are what I actually wear outside on a regular basis.

Notepad Cover Set: Weather Girls

Vector designs of unnamed characters themed after… well, weather stuff.

I made this set in one go, exclusively to print them as covers for these little notepads I’ll be giving to some old girl friends of mine that I haven’t seen in a looong time (we only get together once in a blue moon). THIS IS HOW YOU GIFT WHEN YOU’RE BROKE. YOU BUY CHEAP NOTEPADS, MAKE SOMETHING NICE AS COVERS. THEN TELL ‘EM YOU MADE IT BECAUSE THAT MAKES IT SPECIAL AF.

Doodle Dump: Sparks

This is what really happens with Lucy and Natsu “doing yoga” every morning on the rooftop.

Doodle Dump: Sparks

Sparks (FT Dance AU) doodles!

  • Cana and Lucy’s impromptu “All That Jazz” number
  • Freed and Laxus hanging out on their loft; Laxus making Freed listen to his latest mix why are they so married i’m crying

Tumblr Ask Doodle Dump 2015

Various doodles & requests throughout the year.

The Road Home: Librarians-in-Training

I don’t know what got into me, I suddenly had an urge to draw these children. It took longer than I expected. “The Road Home” is the working title for my ongoing original novel. It’s currently just at 60% when I decided to write and finish Sparks first. These kids are my fave side-characters.

Left to right: Aiden, Helen, Page and Lian. These four are all apprentice librarians (in the novel, librarians do more than sort books and help people in the library, they also do magic stuff).

CHARACTER DRAWCEMBER (Wk 2)

PROMPT: An alternate universe version of one of your characters.

So I’m going by sets of characters instead of just one character, whatever. And this week I choose the Late Luck kids! In a very very rarely-used setting… Hogwarts! *chokes on confetti* I am never. EVER. Drawing Quidditch uniforms again, also robes are such paaaain.

Yuki and Dunstan are probably on their sixth year. Yuki is a half-blood and a Gryffindor, obvs because homegirl don’t take no shit and is gutsy as hell. Also a seeker because she’s badass like that. Dunstan is also a also half-blood, a Hufflepuff, and he’s really good at Potions (because he’s a great cook). I also got an idea that he’s great with owls and creatures in general because he’s really calm and down-to-earth. He named his fave owl “Luck”. They’re both looked up to by their younger house mates. Yuki because she’s too awesome and Dun because he’s really friendly and accommodating.

Random sketches because I couldn’t help myself:

Bren, Ezra and Dav are fourth years. Bren is the most Hufflepuff to ever Hufflepuff. Also a pureblood from one of those nice families that’s why he’s so well-mannered. He’s a really big guy too and that makes him an effective Keeper. That’s his tie on Ezra’s bag because they’re a sickening couple eww. Ezra and Dav are both muggleborns and were pleasantly surprised to find a familiar face (and a family member at that) when they first got into Hogwarts. Ezra was sorted in Ravenclaw. He sucks at Potions and that’s probably how he met Dunstan? He’s the kid who has a giant school bag that always looks heavy as hell. It’s already got extension charms on it AND IT’S STILL OVERFLOWING. He has both the uniform pants and skirt because Ezra wears whatever the heck he wants and rocks it. His friends think so, too. Case in point:

AND DAV IS A FUCKING SNAKE, PERIOD.

CHARACTER DRAWCEMBER (Wk 1)

PROMPT: An old character you don’t use anymore, and then redesign them.

I’m doing Character Drawcember this month because it looks really fun! And it’s light on the load! 😀

Late Luck: “You gotta be shitting me, Dav-Dav.”

The thrilling conclusion of Ezra’s discovery that his secret identity isn’t as secret as he thought. Featuring two of the basketball shippers brothers.

I should finish writing their short story already. And maybe go back to Luck and his girlfriend soon.

OC: Leeno and Guisha

Old OC’s (like from waaaay back in high school!) I drew few days ago as a gift for my friend Guia, who created them with moi. Loved how this turned out so. Here. 😀

Project DIY: Instagram

GET OUT OF YOUR ROOMS AND TALK TO EACH OTHER PEOPLE YOU’RE IN ONE HOUSE

See here: I don’t speed paint because it turns out really freakin’ different from my usual style and I always end up getting baffled and not knowing what to feel.

Anyways, I made this set even before the oneshot and only shared with a few friends but I’m posting it here because @snowfairies1030 made me do it. YAS CAT I AM BLAMING YOU

Project DIY: Family!

tfw you decide to re-draw an old family doodle and it turned out really cute.

feat. Quinn: actual queen, outstanding girlfriend, professional photographer, sometimes does vocals; Van: lead and vocals, killer smile, much nerd very dork,; Jace: keyboard, grumpy genius, filthy rich; Vlad: bass and composition, kitchen domestic god, might be a metamorphmagus with his changing hair colors, owns the house; Ara: actual princess, daddy’s girl, MIA bio-mom but has five parents to more than make up for it; and Cole: drums, leader, super dad, works 3 jobs + gigs, ended up adopting four overgrown children before he knew it.

Late Luck: Best Cousin Award

Let’s stop bullying Luck for a while. It’s Chance’s turn this time.
I’ve actually been saving Dav for Ezra’s and Bren’s story but I can’t help myself.

Also. A shoutout to @iguesswevebothcheateddeath for giving Late Luck so much love. Thanks, dude!

Project DIY: How To Utilize the Bandmates

Band OC shenanigans.

Because Cole knows how to take advantage of the bandmates he recruited.
Jace is not ready for fatherhood yet. Don’t scare him like that, Vlad.

OC: Jace and Vlad

Jace and Vlad (aka The Pasty One and Color-kid)

I was going through old OC sketches and I found this and I can’t stop laughing. They’re childhood friends and sweethearts and also bandmates (keyboard and bass) and don’t worry they married each other eventually.

Project DIY: How To Recruit Bandmates

Back in college I had a series of short stories about this band that eventually became this little found family. A few months ago I started a project to illustrate some of the stories.

I posted the first and only finished chapter on Tapastic, but then another project + IRL stuff kicked in and the thing was scrapped (huhu). So now I guess I’ll just post the whole thing here instead. This is the (rly short) story of how the band started out.

Rest of the comic under the cut.
(Longish post incoming)

Late Luck: Peace!

Quick doodle of these nerds I did a few days ago: Bren, Yuki, Kai the Dog, Dunstan, Ezra and punkSasuke Cousin Dav (you’ll meet him eventually).

Late Luck: She’s Not Mad at You, Really

Yuki is the chillest superhero girlfriend ever. And yeah maybe they should just teleport the fire truck.

Late Luck: Netflix and No Chill

Up your game, Dunstan. Everyone thinks you’re a loser.
I should prolly do smol Chance and his tol boyfriend next.

Late Luck: How To Secret Identity 101

A few weeks ago I wrote a short story ‘bout this kid who is secretly a superhero and this is the thrilling and very dramatic scene of how his girlfriend found out about it.

It took him months to know and only when she told him because she felt guilty for not telling him that she already knows. (And because his reasons/excuses/white-lies for running off keep getting weirder and weirder.)
